Tivo and Dominos team up to allow broadband Tivo viewers to order pizza either during a Dominos commercial or through the Tivo menu. The system will even track the order time for delivery or pickup, but you will have to pay the delivery guy in cash. This is another blurring of the digital/physical line, and another heart attack for America. Tivo Press Release Tivo has had the "press the thumbs up button to learn more" feature for at least a few years now. I like this new extension of their old idea.

News of the Backberry Storm came out over a month ago now, but I've been too swamped to write anything. When RIM announced that the Blackberry Storm's touchscreen provides tactile feedback they raised my hopes and dashed them quite expertly (I explain further down). It turns out, the feedback they call "ClickThrough" was designed because RIM's co-CEO Mike Lazaridis said he can't type on a piece of glass. The short story is they use two different sensor layers. Happy Birthday PhIxDA Design, brain monkey, proposal, suggestion | (2)
So I was thinking about Lee's post from about a month ago "almost there" where he suggests we have a competition of some kind in honor of PhIxDA's first post. I wasn't sure what to do, then I remembered Chris's comment where he pleeds: Do anything! Design something, code something, post something, promote something. Do something! Anything! So I did something, I dug through old files until I found a PhIxDA logo I started a year ago. I made some adjustments uploaded it. Do you remember playing connect the dots in first or second grade? Drawing lines until you were delightfully rewarded with a crude drawing of a butterfly. Swype is like playing connect the dots with an onscreen keyboard. Swype is a gesture based text input method for mobile devices and tablet PCs using a stylus or fingertip, but there is no reason why it couldn't be used with a standard PC and a mouse. HP just released their TouchSmart Series of desktop PC to the consumer market. These all-in-one PCs feature a touch sensitive 22" widescreen monitor Which is designed to be the primary method of interaction. HP designed a software suite that allows users to access their information, music, pictures, TV and social networks through a multi-touch interface that emulates the tactile feel of the iPhone.

Swarming with Data impressions, outside | (1)
code_swarm is a very cool application created by Michael Ogawa that takes the history of changes to a software project and creates a video describing those changes over time. The videos remind me of watching a massive space battle in a sci-fi movie. The visualizations that code_swarm produces are not interactive, but they should be. It would be useful to have the ability to zoom into a particular area or toggle developers and file types on and off.I could also see this type of visualization being very useful in tracking personal or cooperate cash flow. Sort a Card, Any Card Applications & Services, outside | (2)
I am now a part of the small group of people that clicked on a banner ad (intentionally). I found a banner for OptimalSort while browsing boxesandarrows.com OptimalSort is a neat online card sorting application developed in the land of Middle Earth (New Zealand). There are 30 day, 90 day and annual paid subscriptions and even a free account that just limits your limits your number of active projects, cards & participants. They even have a "hefty discount" for universities and non-profit groups.

HIP’N SLIDE impressions, opinion, outside | (5)
It seems Amazon has joined the slider band wagon. Amazon now has a "create your own ring" page. The first step in creating your ring is searching for a diamond, which uses sliders to filter price, shape, carat, color, clarity etc. I think sliders are a far more intuitive interaction for selecting a range of options than any combination of checkboxes, radio buttons or drop down menus. I also like Amazons use of icons within the sliders to further encourage understanding of the options. Has anyone else found a good implementation of sliders? Do you think they are just "eye candy" or ...

Recently I read that the Apple has no plans in the near future to support Flash on the iPhone. I found this curious since they boast about the phone having access to the "real internet", but they are not supporting the plug-in with near total market saturation how can they call it the "real internet"?
