I’m thinking about the way I look up words - or the way I used to look up words. You know, like in a dictionary.
I employ some quick fuzzy math to calculate the depth of the first letter and then I eyeball the thickness of the book. I estimate how many letters, how many words and how many pages come before. How many after. I open the book and if I am really really lucky I might be close.
Now the flipping and skipping begins. Half steps towards the word. Single page scans and turns.
